Poland raises policy rate by 75 basis points

National Bank cites high inflation, which it expects to linger through 2022

The National Bank of Poland intensified its monetary policy tightening on November 3, raising the policy rate by 75 basis points to 1.25%.

The action was the second consecutive increase, after a 40bp raise on October 6.

The central bank reported that the Polish economy was recovering from the pandemic, with falling unemployment and rising wages. However, Poland faces elevated inflation due to supply disruptions and high commodity prices, the NBP said. The Polish statistics agency measured
