US regulator joins NGFS

OCC follows Fed into green network and appoints climate change risk officer

A major US banking regulator announced on July 27 that it was joining the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS).

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, which regulates banks with national charters, also said it had appointed its first climate change risk officer.

The OCC follows the Federal Reserve into the NGFS, a global alliance of central banks and financial regulators formed in 2017. The NGFS supports the Paris climate agreement, and acts as an information clearing house
