Turkish finance minister quits after president fires governor

Finance minister resigns before new governor signals he will consider raising policy rates

Turkey’s finance minister resigned on November 8, one day after president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan replaced the country’s central bank governor amid a deepening economic crisis.

Erdoğan issued an official announcement that he had fired governor Murat Uysal and replaced him with Naci Ağbal early on November 7.
