Bank of Israel wins Supreme Court case on banknotes

Justices advise private ATM operator to drop case against central bank

The Bank of Israel has won an unusual Supreme Court case after an operator of private ATMs took legal action against one of its cash-management regulations.

After hearing the arguments on May 15, justices recommended that Dor Alon, which owns gas stations and convenience stores across Israel, drop its case against the central bank.

The regulation in question requires private ATM operators to stock their machines with fit banknotes only – those that have been checked in approved sorting
