Sveriges Riksbank will offer central counterparties (CCPs) access to an overnight deposit facility in order to prevent shocks to their krona liquidity spreading across the financial system, the central bank said on September 7.

The new facility “is being offered for monetary policy purposes, at an interest rate corresponding to the Riksbank’s deposit rate,” said the central bank. Since February 2016, the deposit rate in Sweden has remained at –1.25%.
