Riksbank looks for new banknote supplier as Crane Currency moves out

Swedish central bank surprised by Crane Currency’s transfer of operations to Malta

Sweden’s Riksbank is to replace its banknote supplier in order to keep note production in the country, it announced today (May 18).

Crane Currency, the company printing Swedish notes, announced the closure of its plant in the country earlier this month. The US company intends to transfer production to a new plant it inaugurated in Malta in February, where it estimates an overall investment of around $100 million.
