Taiwan deputy nominated as next governor

Yang Chin-long seen as likely to follow the monetary policy stance of his predecessor, Perng Fai-nan

Deputy governor Yang Chin-long is set to replace Perng Fai-nan at the Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan)

The Taiwanese cabinet has announced the nomination of Yang Chin-long, deputy governor of Taiwan’s central bank, to replace Perng Fai-nan when the 79-year-old veteran retires this month.

At a press conference in Taipei City today (February 1), Taiwan government spokesperson Hsu Kuo-yung revealed that Yang has been chosen to take over the governor role of the Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan), or CBC, when Perng steps down on February 24.
