Letter bomb explodes at IMF Paris headquarters, less than a day after explosive device sent to German finance minister

French police have launched an investigation following an explosion at the International Monetary Fund’s headquarters in Paris today (March 16).

A letter bomb was sent to the IMF’s offices in the French capital this morning, which exploded when opened, injuring one woman, who police now say is in a non-life threatening, stable condition.

“I condemn this cowardly act of violence and reaffirm the IMF’s resolve to continue our work in line with our mandate,” said IMF managing director Christine
