Former Bundesbank president helped to drive Germany’s social market economy

Hans Tietmeyer died on December 27, 2016, at the age of 85. He was an outstanding president of the Deutsche Bundesbank, perceived in Germany and beyond as the guarantor of the stability of the Deutschmark. He became a member of the Bundesbank`s Board in 1990, his presidency lasted from 1993 to 1999.
