EBA proposes new templates for AT1 issues

Survey of capital issuances highlights provisions that should be avoided, EBA says

The European Banking Authority (EBA) has proposed draft templates for future issues of Additional Tier 1 (AT1) capital instruments by financial institutions.

On July 11, the EBA said it had carried out a "preliminary review" of how selected AT1 instruments were issued "to identify provisions which the EBA would recommend avoiding".

Under the European Union's Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR), the EBA is mandated to monitor the quality of own funds instruments issued by financial institutions
