Board member appointed as next Czech governor

Rusnok has been on the board since 2014 and is a former interim prime minister; he will serve a term of “at least five years”, from July 1

Jiří Rusnok will be the next Czech National Bank (CNB) governor, it was announced today (May 25). As a member of its board, his appointment was widely expected.

Rusnok, a former prime minister of the Czech Republic, will succeed Miroslav Singer on July 1. Helena Horská, chief economist at Raiffeisenbank, Czech Republic, described him as a "man of compromise". "He seems to prefer gradual changes rather than aggressive or radical ones," she told Central Banking.
