Czech Republic chooses not to set target date for euro adoption

Central bank and ministry of finance advise the government not to set a date

The Czech government has decided not to set a target date for adopting the euro, after the country's central bank and ministry of finance concluded "sufficient progress has not yet been made in laying the groundwork".

Most members of the European Union, including the Czech Republic, are obliged to join the eurozone, though they can determine their own timetables for doing so.
