Stephen Poloz called for central banking to be "reinvented" last night, as he raised questions over the future of the Bank of Canada's flexible inflation targeting regime.

The governor singled out the need to incorporate financial stability into the central bank's monetary policy framework – something he described as a "work in progress" – and minimise the frequency of zero lower bound episodes.
