Poll: Should inflation targets be scrapped?

When, upon winning the Bank of England (BoE) governorship in 2012, Mark Carney mooted that central banks should consider scrapping their inflation targets – a cornerstone of monetary policy for the past quarter century – he caused a minor stir.

With policy rates near zero, additional stimulus may require changes to the "policy framework itself", the then governor of the Bank of Canada warned, adding a nominal GDP target could be "more powerful" in "exceptional circumstances".
