Russian finance ministry begins paying salaries in CBDC

All Russian citizens can request to convert salaries into digital ruble, ministry says

Russia’s Ministry of Finance has started to pay employees’ salaries in the country’s central bank digital currency, the institution announced on October 2.

In a statement, the ministry said some of its employees had received their salaries in digital rubles for the first time, and had opened digital ruble accounts on the Bank of Russia’s platform to do so.
