Chile continues easing cycle with 25bp cut

Analyst says another reduction in December is “far from guaranteed”

The Chilean central bank’s monetary policy committee yesterday (October 17) reduced its policy rate by 25 basis points to 5.25% in a unanimous decision.

In a statement, the Central Bank of Chile (BCCh) said inflation in September had been slightly below its forecast, mainly because of volatility in food prices. Year-on-year headline inflation was 4.1% in September, down from 4.7% the previous month.
