Poland’s top court blocks inquiry into central bank governor

Glapiński accused of politically aligned monetary policy decisions

Poland’s constitutional tribunal ruled on August 20 that provisions allowing the central bank governor Adam Glapiński to be put on trial are unconstitutional.

The decision is the latest episode in the transition of political power in Poland, where the Law and Justice (PiS) party lost its parliamentary majority in October 2023 after eight years in government.
