Political influence is affecting the OeNB’s independence, staff say

Austrian central bank employees criticise gag orders, conflicts of interest and insufficient female staff

Staff at the National Bank of Austria (OeNB) have written open letters complaining that political influence is undermining its independence, particularly around the appointment of senior officials. One open letter also says that the OeNB has appointed fewer women to managerial positions than the law mandates.
