Riksbank HR system restored 17 days after ransomware attack

The Swedish central bank’s human resources (HR) and salary system has been restored more than two weeks after a ransomware attack on the third-party provider hosting it. 

A spokesperson for Sveriges Riksbank tells Central Banking that the Primula system, which is also used by other government agencies, had been available from the vendor, Tietoevry, as of February 2. However, because of the need to undertake internal controls, the system only became fully operational on February 6.
