BIS, World Bank and IMF to collaborate on tokenisation project

Digitisation of notes will facilitate transfer of development money to emerging economies

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS), World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) are to collaborate on a tokenisation project. The project will initially focus on digitising promissory notes, with the Swiss National Bank also participating.

Speaking at a conference in Washington on November 28, Cecilia Skingsley, head of the BIS Innovation Hub said: “We will work together with the World Bank and the Swiss National Bank to simplify the process for making development money available
