Lebanese deputy governors ‘threaten to quit’, report says

Prime minister says he will not appoint successor to Salameh as French court backs asset seizure

The four deputy governors of Lebanon’s central bank have threatened to resign if political leaders do not appoint a new governor.

Lebanon’s prime minister confirmed that he will not reappoint governor Riad Salameh when his fifth term ends on July 31, but said he will not appoint a successor. The law states that one of the four deputy governors would then take over the role in an acting capacity.
