China expands e-yuan pilot

Beijing to trail use of central bank digital currency outside of Olympic Games centres

China is expanding its e-yuan pilot, the People’s Bank of China announced on April 2. 

Eleven cities will begin trials of the central bank digital currency (CBDC), in addition to 10 existing pilot centres, the central bank said.
