Fed’s Bostic: uncertainty is hallmark of current economy

Atlanta Fed chief sees myriad forces pushing up inflation, but warns Fed may still tighten too fast

Raphael Bostic, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, told the National Association of Business Economics that labour market dynamics and the war in Ukraine have one common thread: uncertainty.

Speaking at a conference on March 21, Bostic walked through how labour and the outbreak of war will affect monetary policy and the global economy. While he saw multiple forces pushing up inflation, he also warned the Fed risks acting too hard and fast if aggregate demand weakens.
