Croatian central bank denies allegations against governor

Financial supervisor is investigating media claims of insider dealing by central bank staff

Croatia’s central bank has strongly denied allegations by a local media outlet that its governor and other employees carried out insider dealing.

The news website Index alleged on January 10 that around 40 Croatian National Bank (CNB) staff, including governor Boris Vujčić, had engaged in insider dealing. On January 12, the Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Authority began investigating the central bank over these allegations.
