Inflation in the eurozone reached a new record high of 4.9% in November, official statistical agency Eurostat said today (November 29).

Energy prices, which rose by 27.4% year on year, remained the key factor boosting the harmonised index of consumer prices. Nonetheless, core inflation excluding food and energy prices also climbed to a new record of 2.6%.

Across the region’s main jurisdictions, inflation in Germany reached 6%, France 3.4%, Italy 4%, and in both Spain and the Netherlands 5.6%.
