The two central bank governors in civil war-torn Libya met last week in an effort to reunify the divided institution.

Sadiq Al-Kabir, governor in the country’s capital Tripoli, met with Ali el-Hibri, who runs the central bank based in the rebel-held town of Bayda, on July 8. Al-Kabir is the Central Bank of Libya’s governor while el-Hibri is its deputy governor, but in effect each has run their own central bank for seven years.
