Riksbank starts work on CBDC with external firms

E-krona pilot project to test technical solution with Handelsbanken and TietoEVRY

Sveriges Riksbank will start cooperating with external counterparties in the second phase of its central bank digital currency pilot project, it said today (May 28).

The second phase will go beyond simulations for the first time in the e-krona project. The Riksbank will work with Handelsbanken, a major Swedish lender, and TietoEVRY, a Finland-based software and service company.
