Mexican president resumes attacks on central bank

AMLO calls on Banxico to disclose how reserves are handled and how much money its managers make

Mexico’s president, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, has launched a further attack on the central bank and its governor.

At a press conference on May 20, AMLO – as the president is called – questioned why the Bank of Mexico was not able to transfer profits from its reserves management in 2020 to the government.
