Lebanese finance ministry and central bank clash over forensic audit

Central bank to release documents to independent auditors this month, finance ministry says

Lebanon’s finance ministry has said the country’s central bank will release confidential documents for a long-delayed forensic audit, days after accusing it of dishonesty. 

The audit of the Banque du Liban (BdL) is one of the most important problems in Lebanon’s economic crisis. Potential international donors including France and the International Monetary Fund have refused to send emergency financing unless the BdL allows an independent audit.
