Bailey hits back at critics in new hearing on LCF scandal

Andrew Bailey has again defended his record as the former chief executive of the Financial Conduct Authority, saying he was “quite angry” about accusations he sought to cover up aspects of his involvement in a scandal at the regulator.

The hearing of the Treasury Committee saw lawmakers again grill the Bank of England governor over his role in the regulation of London Capital & Finance (LCF), a firm that collapsed after misleading retail investors into buying high-risk ‘mini-bonds’.
