Palestine Monetary Authority governor resigns early

Government quickly nominates senior PMA official to take place of Azzam Shawwa

The governor of the Palestine Monetary Authority, Azzam Shawwa, has resigned just over one year into his second term in office.

He cited “personal reasons” for his departure, according to a statement published by the PMA on January 3. Shawwa was given a second four-year term as governor in November 2019.
