UK government could give BoE ‘green’ asset holding remit – official

Government could alter BoE’s asset-holding remit to take account of climate-related risks – Hauser

A senior Bank of England official has said its policy on asset holding and buying might be changed by the UK government to take account of climate change-related risk.

The BoE’s executive director for markets, Andrew Hauser, also warned that the financial industry is not doing enough to enable markets to take account of climate-change related risk.  

Hauser said he anticipates that the UK government could possibly change its remit for asset purchases and holdings, so that it would take climate
