Yemeni militia seizes government central bank’s currency

Reports say armed men took notes worth $20 million as civil war factions struggle for power

An armed militia in Yemen have seized banknotes being transported through the city of Aden to one of the country’s central banks.

Armed men believed to belong to the Southern Transitional Council hijacked vehicles transporting notes worth 640 million Yemeni riyals, or $20 million, Reuters reports. The stolen notes were being taken to the Central Bank of Yemen in Aden.
