Central banks must take lead on climate disclosures – PBoC’s Ma

Reserve managers’ stances send important signals to the financial community, says Ma Jun

Central bank reserve managers must take on leadership roles in disclosing their green asset positions, says Ma Jun, chairman of Hong Kong Green Finance Association (HKGFA) and member of the monetary policy committee of the People’s Bank of China (PBoC).

Such leadership is essential in sending a signal to the private sector that environmental, social and governance (ESG) disclosures are encouraged and indeed expected by the regulator, Ma tells Central Banking.
