ECB rejects amendment from EU institutions on CCP regulation

Proposed changes would ‘distort’ ECB’s request for change, Draghi says

The European Central Bank has effectively withdrawn its request to have its governing statute amended, saying changes suggested by the European Union’s political institutions have distorted what it asked for.

In June 2017, the ECB formally requested a change to Article 22 of its governing statute in order to give it a clear mandate to regulate the eurozone’s clearing systems.
