Deputy governor appointed after lawmakers reject second term for incumbent

Macedonia’s parliament has appointed a new governor to the country’s central bank, after apparently rejecting the president’s attempt to keep the then-sitting governor in place.

Anita Angelovska Bezhoska, a former International Monetary Fund official, took office on May 22, becoming the first woman to hold the role.
