Malaysia starts to feel effects of Fed rate hikes

Fed rate hike in June impacted Malaysia's financial markets, while Thailand has seen less of an effect

Malaysia's financial markets have been affected by the Fed's June rate hike, BNM says

The interest rate hike in June by the Federal Reserve has led to reversals of non-resident investment in Malaysia, according to Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM). 

In a monthly highlights document published on July 31, BNM says Malaysian financial markets, which had been showing “strong interest” in April, May and the first half of June, started to go into decline in the middle of June.
