Ghanaian governor resigns after one year in office

Recent IMF staff report praises central bank, but says Ghana faces challenges

Ghana’s central bank governor has resigned after serving one-quarter of his term, the Bank of Ghana says in a statement issued today (March 30).

Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku was appointed to the post in April 2016, for what a central bank spokesman said was a four-year term. The spokesman said Issahaku’s resignation was for “personal reasons”, and declined to comment further on why the governor had resigned. He was appointed by Ghana’s previous president, John Mahama.
