Charlotte Hogg to replace Shafik at BoE

BoE’s COO steps into new combined deputy governor and COO role

The UK Treasury revealed its pick for the Bank of England's next deputy governor today (Februay 9), promoting Charlotte Hogg and creating a new joint role in the process.

Hogg is currently the central bank's chief operating officer (COO), but will take on the title of deputy governor for markets and banking at the end of this month when Minouche Shafik steps down. She will, however, retain her duties as COO.

The new role ought to keep her busy. She will be responsible for managing the BoE's
