Central bank questions legal basis for raid and seizure of documents

The Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten has filed a complaint at a local court after it was raided by the anti-corruption unit of the country's public prosecution department earlier this month.

On October 6, the anti-corruption unit searched the central bank in conjunction with the ongoing investigation into alleged tax evasion by governor Emsley Tromp. No arrests were made.

"The search was necessary as the bank was not willing to provide requested information for legal reasons," the unit
