Mohammed Laksaci, governor of the Central Bank of Algeria, was dismissed from his post on May 31 by president Abdelaziz Bouteflika. His successor, chief executive of Banque Extérieure d'Algérie, Mohamed Loukal, was sworn into the role on June 2.
