Two UK banks fall short in BoE stress tests

RBS and Standard Chartered fall short on some metrics

UK banks RBS and Standard Chartered failed to meet some of their capital requirements during the Bank of England's (BoE) 2015 stress tests, the results of which were published today (December 1).

Although both banks cleared the "hurdle" rates of 4.5% common equity Tier 1 (CET1) and a 3% leverage ratio – after taking "strategic management actions" – the BoE deemed other elements of their capital to have fallen too low.
