EBA unveils plans for 2016 stress tests

Banks will be tested using ‘macroeconomic adverse’ and ‘historical’ scenarios

The next round of stress testing by the European Banking Authority (EBA) will not assess banks against any one capital threshold, according to draft guidelines published today (November 5).

Tests will be carried out on 53 banks in the European Union, of which 39 are within the supervisory remit of the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM).

Banks will take part in an "informal discussion" of the draft methodology and templates for stress testing before the documents are finalised.
