The top US securities regulator today (June 18) said she was "very interested" in the UK's senior managers' regime (SMR) as a tool for instilling a better culture in financial firms.

Mary Jo White, the chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), said there had been "less emphasis on personal accountability than there should have been" in the US to date, with the SMR representing an "intriguing" possible solution.
