Criminal complaint argues high interest rates have hurt Turkish people

Members of the Turkish central bank's monetary policy committee (MPC) could face legal action over their refusal to cut interest rates, including the threat of jail terms.

Local media sources reported this week that Muhammed Serif Aydin, an attorney at the Ankara public prosecutor's office, had privately brought a criminal complaint against the MPC on the grounds that its refusal to cut interest rates had harmed the Turkish people.
