Central bank is selling Maardu Manor after two decades of ownership

The Bank of Estonia is selling a manor estate dating back to the fourteenth century, which it has listed with a starting price of €2 million.

Governor Ardo Hansson explained that owning Maardu Manor, located just outside Estonia's capital of Tallinn, "does not fit with the principles of an efficient organisation".

He said the central bank used the property only "rarely" and argued a more "dedicated" owner would "be able to put the manor house to better use".
