Bank of Mexico governor talks about flaws in the financial system and how to manage crises

Agustín Carstens was appointed governor of the Bank of Mexico on January 1, 2010 for a full six-year term and has sat as a member of the Steering Committee of the G-20 Financial Stability Board since early 2010.

He began his career at the Mexican central bank in 1980, where he held many positions within the international department. In 1989, he was named the Bank of Mexico’s international treasurer and represented the central bank in Mexico’s Brady bond foreign debt restructuring negotiations
