Iceland governor must re-apply for post as government mulls central bank shake-up

Iceland is inviting applications for the position of governor of the central bank, after Már Guðmundsson, the current governor of the Central Bank of Iceland (CBI), was told by the minister of finance yesterday that he would not be automatically appointed for a second term.

Guðmundsson, who has led the bank since August 2009 and whose term expires in September, was notified of the decision hours before a deadline that, if breached, would have extended his tenure for another five years in
