SNB’s Jordan defends decision not to activate capital buffer

The chairman of the Swiss National Bank (SNB), Thomas Jordan, today (September 3) defended the central bank's decision not to activate a counter-cyclical capital buffer (CCB), but said significant risks still face the Swiss financial system.

Speaking at a capital markets forum in Zurich, Jordan said there were two main reasons behind the decision. First, he said there were signs of a slowdown in the residential real estate market, and second, stricter capital requirements and revised regulations
