Ex-UK MPC members discuss future of eurozone

Panellists at an event in London today (July 31) argued that the euro was likely to survive, but only following the exit of one or more countries.

The two panellists at the latest Fathom Consulting Monetary Policy Forum were John Gieve, a former deputy governor of the Bank of England, and DeAnne Julius, a founding member of the bank's Monetary Policy Committee. Both expected a Greek exit from the euro. "I think it is extremely likely that the eurozone will not survive in its current form,"
